The diverse haul could include objects like a chainsaw-wielding statuette of Argentina's leader Javier Milei and a pair of exotic blue snake-skin shoes with gilded heels.
These items, collectively, are valued at around β¬800,000. The plan is to auctioned off in a public auction by a Rome-based fine art auction house. The specific date remains to be announced, but the goal is to hold the auction by year's end, with all funds raised going to non-profit organizations.
Palazzo Chigi Collection
The presents are currently kept in a storage room on the third floor of Palazzo Chigi. It has been reported that Meloni furthermore intending to auction off gifts given to her political forerunners that have been sitting unused indefinitely.
A complete inventory has not yet been officially released, but some insight emerged earlier this year when a comprehensive document of items received was submitted to lawmakers. The discussion centered on whether a statutory cap on gift value was being respected. By law, a prime minister is not permitted to keep presents exceeding β¬300.
