The former Harvard president, who previously presided over Harvard University, stated on recently that he would be stepping back from public responsibilities due to his connections with Jeffrey Epstein.

The measure will afterward move to the administration of President Trump for approval. The President has indicated he intends to sign the legislation, after changing his view on the issue following objections from his followers.

Personal Accountability
After the emails were shared with the wider community, the former official stated he assumed "complete accountability for my ill-advised judgment to continue corresponding with Mr Epstein".
He continued that he wanted "to reestablish trust and mend relationships with the individuals closest to me".

The economist held high-level positions under two Democratic presidents; serving as treasury secretary under the former president, and as head of the White House economic team under the former leader.
He presided over the institution from five years and remains a academic there. When declaring his departure from public commitments recently on this week, he stated he would continue his teaching commitments.

Following Summers' declaration on earlier this week, the Center for American Progress, a liberal policy institute in Washington where the professor was a prominent member, verified that he was not connected with the group.
He became part of the board of OpenAI, which develops the language model, in 2023 - following a failed attempt to remove its chief executive OpenAI's head.
