Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the 45 charges comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
