Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has died at the age of 24.
Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in the 2024 NFL Draft and played 18 times for the team, with four starting appearances.
He scored his first touchdown in the Tuesday game to the Arizona Cardinals when he recovered a blocked punt.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organisation," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his partner Catalina and his family."
Kneeland was selected by Dallas with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft after playing college football for Western Michigan University.
His representative, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart aches" for the loss of the athlete who "poured his heart" into each opportunity.
"I saw him strive his way from a aspiring young man at Western Michigan with a dream to being a esteemed pro for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley commented.
The NFL stated it is "deeply saddened" by the news.
